blue pants

I propose that this customer is thinking that she has found a seamstress she likes, and so she is slowly going to bring me her whole wardrobe to update, and make her size! : ) This is our third round... I'm happy with it, why not? She is pleasant.

chenille

It was kind of nostalgic to work on this jacket. I didn't make it, but I used to make clothes from vintage chenille in the 90's. It made me think of those days. I didn't want to be back there. I've been there, done that. But I do have lots of chenille that I will do something new with one of these days. It's so beautiful! I had a chenille bedspread when I was a little girl. : )

vI made this one a whole lot smaller for my customer. I worked on her wedding dress last week. And another jacket a couple of years ago. She loves my work! : )

zipped up

It took me awhile to get this going... sorry.
Somethings are just worth waiting for. ; )
My sewing business provides me with a veritable source of supplies for interesting and unusual fibre arts.

I am a recycler, always have been. Influenced by many depression era folks from early years I guess. " )These hoodies needed new zips.

Here are all the zips I cut out. I have a box of broken zips that I'm saving. They seem kind of neat when I look at them apart from their utilitarian use as a zipper. Yesterday I accidentally pulled the teeth from the fabric, and found that they are connected to each other, and the plastic teeth then look like a long little spring. This could be fun! Dissecting stuff can actually make you think of something in an entirely new way! Pulling the fabric away from the teeth makes a cool sound too.... The zipper pulls can be quite interesting too. My son made a couple necklaces from them as gifts last Christmas. But sometimes I use the pulls to rescue another person's zip so it doesn't need to be replaced... They like that!

Virgin Sewing Post

I have a sewing business.
Since 1991.
I sew lots of things.
Just about every
kind of thing.
From boat sheets
to biking gloves.
I hem, I mend,
I redesign,
I fit.
I cut from scratch.
I work from a photo,
or a pattern,
or a garment.
I can sew
anything.
From the first stitch
on a sewing machine
when I was 14
it was meant to be.
I am going to document
the life of my machine
and my hands
for a bit
just for fun.

Enjoy!
